This travel blog post is all about how you can take advantage of the wonders of the world. It begins by listing them continent by continent and then category by category. And by category we mainly distinguish between heritage sites and natural wonders.
Let’s start by motivating why you should be taking advantage of such wonders. Many of you may never have been on an overseas trip abroad but may be saving up for one. Most of you live on the periphery of material life and may class yourselves as lower to middle income earners, meaning that you may only be making one trip of a lifetime.
Before we start listing the wonders of the world, let’s give you some good news. The good news is that because there so many natural and manmade wonders, the chances are that there is at least one near to where you live. For some who have this privilege, it may only necessitate just one day out over the weekend to take in the sights. Do take advantage of this privilege but still focus your savings and travel ambitions towards that once in a lifetime trip.
Now for the exciting part of this post. We’re about to list the wonders of the world. But do forgive us if we’ve not named them all because dramatically, there are just too many for us to mention in just one short post. For now, we’ll stick to our categorizing plan. Here goes, and enjoy the ride.
South and Central America
The Mayan ruins are located in the Yucatan Peninsula of Mexico and was the center of controversy at the end of 2012 because the end of world predictions of the ancient sages from this civilization never came true but mainly were widely misunderstood by thousands of tourists who visited the ruins on the last day of that year. Don’t forget that there’s also the Incan and Aztec ruins to consider on the neighboring continent.
No trip to the USA is complete without visiting two icons of American architecture and culture; the Empire State Building in New York City, the multicultural city that never sleeps, and the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco, another multicultural hive in more ways than one.
Most tourists will be heading off to Paris and the Eiffel Tower but we’d like to recommend that you visit both Athens and Rome and explore the ruins of two of the greatest civilizations in the history of humankind.
Speaking of great civilizations, you just have to visit tourist-friendly Egypt and explore the iconic Great Pyramid of Giza. It is also recognized as the only ancient wonder left standing in the modern world of today.
India has its Taj Mahal while China has its Great Wall. You need to explore both before you die. Put these two heritage sites on your bucket list then.
All of the sites we mentioned above are recognized as heritage sites. It’s nearly time for us to start packing, so let’s close this whirlwind trip around the world by listing some of the must-see natural wonders.
Back in Northern America, the Grand Canyon is located in Arizona and is now listed as an eighth natural wonder of the world while Australasia has miraculously managed to keep its Great Barrier Reef pristine for your pleasure. Zimbabwe’s Victoria Falls are magnificent while Asia’s Mount Everest peaks as the highest natural wonder of the world.
It is still possible for you to scale such great heights because, as they say; while travel broadens the mind, fortune favors the brave.
